It should be noted that prior to this appointment, Marc-André Plante served as Mayor of Terrebonne, Quebec’s 10th largest city. During his tenure, he implemented several reforms and modernization initiatives within the municipal administration. He was actively involved with numerous organizations, notably serving as Chair of the Social Housing Commission of the Montreal Metropolitan Community (CMM) and as a member of the Executive Committee of the Union des municipalités du Québec (UMQ). In addition, he represented the municipalities of Montreal’s North Shore on the board of EXO, the regional public transit authority.

From 2004 to 2017, Mr. Plante served as Executive Director of a Quebec non-profit organization dedicated to the development of social policies across more than 900 municipalities. A member of the Conseil de la famille et de l’enfance until 2011, he also co-authored three books, including one produced in collaboration with the Université de Montréal’s School of Urban Planning on the sustainable development of our communities.

Holding a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the École nationale d’administration publique (ENAP), his professional and academic experience has led him to serve as an expert in local public policy on the international stage, including in France, Belgium, Ireland, and Denmark. More recently, he contributed to a study on municipal needs related to intergenerational housing.

Marc-André Plante stated: “I am pleased to join an organization as well-structured and credible as CORPIQ. I proudly accept the opportunity to become the face and spokesperson for Quebec’s rental property owners at a pivotal time that calls for solutions adapted to new realities and the unique circumstances currently facing the housing sector. I intend to dedicate myself to addressing the many challenges ahead through a collaborative approach involving decision-makers, community organizations, members, and partners throughout our extensive network.”

Benoit Ste-Marie, Executive Director of CORPIQ, expressed his enthusiasm regarding Mr. Plante’s arrival: “It is a privilege for me to welcome someone as experienced as Marc-André Plante to the CORPIQ team. He will not only serve as the spokesperson for our network, but will also lead our government relations efforts to ensure that municipal, provincial, and federal policies better reflect the goals and aspirations of Quebec’s rental housing sector. The current context invites us to reflect and better define the future of housing. Property owners and CORPIQ members are well positioned to put forward thoughtful and practical proposals to decision-makers. In this regard, Mr. Plante’s arrival will be a valuable asset to both our organization and the housing sector as a whole.”
